Salisbury Cathedral  Started in 1220 on virgin soil and built in 38 years.  The main Sunday service is at 10.30 with procession and ritual and the celebrated choir to uplift the spirit.   Evensong 5.30 (3.30 on Sundays).  Bill Bryson wrote "There is no doubt in my mind that Salisbury Cathedral is the single most beautiful structure in England and the Close around it the most beautiful space"
